Resumo: SOUZA, J.P.B. Local detomidine associated with ropivacaine for paravertebral blockade in sheep –2021. 39p. Masters dissertation – Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências Veterinárias. Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul, Campo Grande, MS, 2021. This study compared the association of ropivacaine and detomidine in a paravertebral block in sheep and their cardiorespiratory, sedative, and hemogasometric effects in a randomized, controlled, experimental study. Eight healthy adult crossbred ewes with an average weight of 45±5.9 were used. The 8 animals received all treatments divided into 3 groups, group GR 12 ml of 0.5% ropivacaine isolated in the paravertebral block, group GRD 12 ml of 0.5% ropivacaine associated with 0.02mg/kg of detomidine in the block, and GRIM group 12 ml of 0.5% ropivacaine in the blockade associated with 0.02 mg/kg of intramuscular detomidine. The GRD and GRDM groups had bradycardia and hypertension when compared to the GR group, but no side effects were observed in hemogasometric parameters. The latency period was shorter in the GRD group (0.9±0.67) when compared to the GR group (3.1±1.70) and the GRAND group (2.8±1.48). The blocking time of the GR group (385±84.473) and GRDIM (401±95.87) were shorter when compared to the GRD group (823±76.90) (p<0.05). In conclusion, the association of detomidine with ropivacaine in a paravertebral block in sheep decreases onset time and increases blockade time without significant cardiorespiratory and hemogasometric effects.
