Resumo: Many factors represent hurdles to the development of buildings in our country. Among them the project plays an important role. Even though some actions have been taken to control and improve the quality of building materials, the project itself hasnt drawn appropriate attention regarding its quality and relationship with functional expectancy. Thebuilding performance must be according to its use in practice and match the users necessities. The performance in practice is easily evaluated by the occurrence of building pathologies. Studies have shown that the stage of project conception is the most important variable in the occurrence of these pathologies. In addition, the project quality isfundamental to achieve high quality buildings. Due to fierce competition in building industry it is necessary to improve the project management in order to avoid the waste of material and save time. However, appropriated management activity alone is not enough to guarantee high quality and to decrease costs and risks. A high quality project developmente is based on technical knowledge of the designers and the correct use of building technologies available for constructors. In this context it is also important to be aware of the growing number of new building materials and techniques. An efficient tool for management and data control is the information system that allows a better planning to achieve the performance criteria previously defined. This study aims to demonstrate a model whose data allow us to create a system of technical memory and to share experiences. This system deals manly with building components and elements regarding their pathologies and technical features. The principles involved in the elaboration of theproposed system included concepts like design of product, desing of process, rationalization and building.
