Resumo: | Information and knowledge management (IKM) increased its importance inside organizations since the beginning of the 1990s.Because of the increasing competition among organizations, having as the main factor the intensification of economic globalization, todays organizations seek constant improvement of its structures, in order to maximize its efficiency. In the center of this behavior is processmanagement. This management approach aims to align all organizations efforts around its business processes, i.e. groups of activities executed in a logical sequence, having as goal the production of goods or services.According to this vision, IKM should be regarded in the context of process management and organizational structure efficiency maximization. The integration of IKM and business processes is identified in the literature as a research paradigm, called process oriented IKM. This paradigm distinguishes itself from, for example, product oriented IKM, which focuses on the creation and dissemination of knowledge and informationartifacts. This work advances on the solution of the integration of business process and IKM problem, using business process modeling (BPM) as a start point. BPM allows to formalize business processes and its context. The product of the BPM activity is a business model, i.e. an abstraction on how a business works. A IKM oriented BPM methodology was developed. The methodology is an extension of Eriksson e Penker BPM approach. An IKM theoretical model was developed to serve as afoundation of the modeling methodology. The methodology is composed of: a set of basic constructs for IKM oriented BPM; a set of diagrams and submodels, composing a modeling view; IKM related modeling patterns; explanations on how to model IKM aspects which do not have direct mapping to language constructs. A set of examples demonstrates the methodologys elements. Through the evaluation of the developed methodology is concluded that it has advantages over the existing approaches, such as: use of the Unified Modeling Language (UML) as the basic notation, ability to model IKM aspects not regarded in other approaches and foundation in an IKM theoretical model. |
