Resumo: | The objective of this trial was to evaluate the effect of different inclusion levels of macauba cake on the intake of goats. The experimental diets consisted of sorghum silage and concentrate ration with different inclusion levels of MC in dry matter: 0, 5, 10 and 15%. Eight castrated adult male goats of indefinite breed, with permanent ruminal canulas, were assigned to an experimental design of 2 Latin squares (4x4) along a total 84-day period divided into four periods of 21 days each. Isoproteic and isoenergetic diets were offered twice daily, in the morning and in the afternoon. Samples of the leftovers were daily collected, frozen and stored for analyses. Intake of dried matter, ether extract, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber, mineral matter, organic matter and non-fibrous carbohydrates were evaluated. The inclusion of macauba cake did not affect any of the variables analyzed, except for the metabolic ether extract and for the percentage of live body weight that demonstrated a negative correlation with MC level in the diet. It is possible to conclude from these results that this subproduct may be used up to a 15% inclusion level without interfering with the animal intake, what increases the expectation about its use. |
