Resumo: Aiming to understand the association between leisure and quality of family life, we interviewed 553 people with physical, hearing, and visual impairments (with different degrees of impairment) in the city of Belo Horizonte, as an transversal study. Data collection took place between July 2019 and December 2019. Quality of family life was used as the main variable and the quality of leisure as the main response variable. The Beach Center Family Life Questionnaire (QVF) was used to obtain this information, while the quality of leisure was used a direct question on the topic “How is the quality of your leisure” and a proxy variable “Access to leisure”. The quality of family life improved the quality of leisure by up to 3% for the population studied. This unequivocally demonstrates that there is a path, there is an association between leisure and quality of family life. Other relevant findings of this study were the importance of age and its influence on leisure, demonstrating that the older the individual, the worse the quality of leisure. For the first time in Brazil, the scale of participation was made with such a large volume of people. The results of the descriptive analysis of the participation scale showed that as the subject's ability to participate grows, there is also an improvement in the quality of leisure by up to 62%. The difference in leisure was also found in the genres, where man has more quality of leisure due to structural issues of our society. This work sheds light on two complex themes and their relationships and how this can affect the quality of care for people with disabilities.
