Resumo: The use of PRP ( paltelet rich plasma) is increasingly in medicine , mainly at sports , but little consensus exists on their effectiveness. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) could provide valuable findings at tissue healing. There were 22 new zealand rabbits , divided into three groups were used . Group 1 - control ( n = 4 ) , group 2 - operated without PRP ( platelet rich plasma) ( n = 9 ) and group 3 - operated with PRP ( n = 9 ) . The PRP was obtained from 9 ml of blood processed with double centrifugation. It was performed the resection of the central portion of the Achilles tendon of rabbits. After 30 days, MRI was donne before and after perfusion sequence. It was observed correlation between the fibrocicatricial tissue and areas of signal abnormalities visualized on MRI and areas of contrast enhancement on MRI perfusion ( P < 0,001) . There was not statistical difference between the groups with and without PRP at perfusion and histological study. MRI with and without perfusion could be a useful technique for evaluating tissue and fibrous scarring in tendons. In the present study , the PRP did not alter the physiological healing process after 30 days of injury, the appearance was indifferent between the groups , suggesting that more experimental studies are required to elucidate these issues .
