Resumo: The aim of this dissertation is the study of my production since 2005 and the exhibitions .my collection. and .my collection. (new acquisitions).. The works in both these collections demonstrate the appropriation and counter-appropriation in fine arts by using various categories, such as painting, photography, embroidery, video and objects. The work of Sherrie Levine inspired the work presented in the collections and was also used to guide the argumentation for the use of various forms of appropriation. Hal Foster.s theory about contemporary art was used to confront Roland Barthes.s semiotic analysis of myth. Selectedphilosophical concepts of Theodor Adorno, such as art as merchandise, wereused to supplement the theoretical base of this work. Because the writing style ofessay strongly reflects the subject matter in the collections, it was the indicatedform to describe and interpret the work in .my collection. and .my collections. (newacquisitions). The resulting essay was based on Burroughs.s cut-up technique, aswell as on the writings of Joyce; both representing forms of collage that allow forthe construction of text as well as fine arts as critical allegories.
