Resumo: Possibilities for broadening teaching materials for teaching andlearning in Art are analysed and proposed in this thesis. The theme isdiscussed from the point of view of art teachers who are also artistsand who move between the two spheres with the same commitmentto each. Thus materials for teaching and learning in Art are thoughtof and contextualised through concepts similar to those used inartistic research and creation, i.e. as aesthetic propositions or objectsthat stimulate creation and help in the understanding of teaching andlearning processes in Art. That idea is presented and discussed on thebasis of the theories, personal experiences and ideas presented byprofessionals in Teacher/Artist [Professor Artista], a series of filmsproduced for the Postgraduate Arts Programme of the UFMG School ofFine Arts. The films were produced by the Innovatio laboratory of artand technology for education, which forms part of the School of FineArts. They focus on the various art forms of the professionals, e.g.design, painting, ceramics, photography, printmaking, urbaninterventions, contemporary technology and drama. Nowadays thetype of teaching and learning facilitated by the use of technology is afeature of everyday culture and the approach is both critical and infavour of further technological research. One of the aims of theTeacher/Artist series was to familiarise students and teachers of Artwith the world of contemporary artistic production, with a view towidening their understanding of creative processes, the production ofteaching materials, and artistic ideas.
