Resumo: | The increase in milking frequency at the begining of lactation had inscreased the serchers’attention into the necessity to increase the milk yield. In this sense, the objectives of this estudy were: evaluate milk production, composition and somatic cells count (SCC) of milking cows submited to an increased milking frequency at the begining of lactation. Fifty two cows (24 primiparous and 28 multiparous), after parturition, were divided according to lactation order and parturition date into two treatments. One was milked three times (3 ORD) and other four times (4 ORD) a day up to the 28th day of the lactation. The milk production was measured every week. On the fourth week of lactation, milk samples were taked to analysis for protein, fat, lactose and SCS. Cows of treatement 3 ORD were milked at 5, 12 and 17h and 4 ORD cows were milked at 5, 9, 12 and 17h. From the 29th day up to the end of experimental period all cows were milked three times a day. The milk production from the 4 ORD cows was 5,45% greater than the 3 ORD cows. The multiparous cows had a greater response to the increase in milking frequency at the beginning of lactation than the primiparous. Milk composition and SCC did not differ between treatments. |
