The aim of this thesis is to analyse whether perception for Aristotle does require underlying ordinary alterations in the sense-organs. In order to so we investigate the general characterization of perception done in De Anima II, 5. The main thesis is that the De Anima II, 5 does not prove that a materialistic interpretation of Aristotles theory of perception is wrong. Despite that we show that Aristotles characterization of perception as a complete activity in Metaphysics Q, 6 creates a great difficult to any materialistic reading.
