The present study, had as objective the analysis of barriers to the implementation of knowledge management programs, as reported in the scientific literature. A systematic literature review was conducted in the Portal de Periódicos da CAPES, which covers approximately 38 thousand titles with full text. The search period was limited to years 2009 through 2016. The search resulted in articles published in periodicals with the expressions knowledge management and barriers in their titles. The results showed a concentration of barriers in the categories individual, organizational and technological. A lack of confidence among employees, a lack of support from top management, and a lack of technologies that meet sharing needs were considered the most recurrent barriers.
