Resumo: | In this study, we sought to understand the educational practices of cultural agents hired to carry out cultural, sports and tutoring workshops in afterschool activities of municipal Integral Education programs. These agents often are young, live in regions close to the schools where they work and teach issues that traditionally are not part of school curricula. The research, qualitative nature, accompanied - through observations and interviews - the practice of six cultural agents in two schools of the School Integrated Programme of the Municipality of Belo Horizonte. The study showed that the agents surveyed spent lot of time with the students, creating proximity and identification ties. In addition to teaching the content of the workshops, these educators also offered a diversity of learning for their students, working dimensions such as identity formation, socializing and leisure. Finally, during the research it was possible to observe the context of activity of these individuals, often marked by poor and isolated working conditions in the school who developed their work.
