Sequência didática sobre qualidade da água: condições de produção e uso para o ensino profissional em química

In this work we describe the design and evaluation of a didactic sequence (DS) for teaching in a secondary level course for Chemistry Technicians. The DS was based on a four phase framework for teaching and follows a STS (Science Technology and Society) approach. The central theme of the DS is water quality of a local lake. Seven activities were proposed in the sequence, including seminar presentations, technical visits and an experimental part where the students analysed several parameters to determine the quality of the water sampled at the local lake. The students written output was evaluated in order to discover problems in the DS and suggest its redesign. We consider that the proposed DS can contribute positively to the insertion of a STS approach in professional education, while still considering the relevance of the teaching of professional techniques and Chemistry content.
