Resumo: | This work investigated contributions from the CTS matrix developed by Strieder and Kawamura (2017) for the elaboration and development of a teaching sequence on the topic of vaccines. To this end, a teaching sequence informed by the CTS matrix was developed with a group of students from the BNCC Electives discipline – Education, Health and Well-being from a state public school, located in the northern region of Belo Horizonte – MG. The research took a qualitative approach, approaching applied research. The activities developed were audio recorded, transcribed and analyzed based on Discursive Textual Analysis (ATD) and the parameters and purposes of the CTS reference matrix. As a result, it was observed that the activities provided contributions to the discussion on the topic of vaccines, highlighting the capacity to mobilize different CTS aspects. The students articulated in their speeches different levels of criticality related to the CTS parameters, scientific rationality, technological development and social participation associated with educational purposes, development of perceptions, development of questions and development of social commitments. It is concluded that the use of the CTS reference matrix contributed both to the planning and to the development, analysis and organization of an educational resource aimed at basic education teachers on the topic of vaccines. We also consider that this matrix can guide other research and teaching proposals that aim to promote a broader understanding of science topics in the STS approach. |
