Resumo: The use of manufacturing methods and techniques as tools for the implementation of Reverse Engineering are diverse, and their advantages and disadvantages vary according to the purpose of each application. In this scenario of varied alternatives, this present aims to present the context of the methods of digitization leading in its own capacities and limitations. (CIM - Cumputer Integrated Fabrication) this paper presents a review of the literature on the techniques for an implementation of Reverse Engineering and a description of the processes of acquisition of virtual geometric coordinates. Continuous research of scanning techniques by contact sensor, LASER beam, photogrammetry and structured light. The highest dimensional and geometric fidelity without scanning performed by contact sensor was evidenced. It will be demonstrated Method of manipulation and acquisition of virtual facial models from two photos. Finally, it will be a solution for a comparative method regarding the reduction of cloud of points in function of the obtained dimensional accuracy. It was evidenced, for the model under study, that it is decreased cloud of points presents an exponential tendency in the loss of geometric details.
