Resumo: This thesis seeks to prove the role played by filmmaker Steven Spielberg in the perpetuation of Cinema itself, in the dissemination and safeguarding of its history and memory, using intertextual strategies, such as quotes, tributes, reinterpretation of genres and styles, in order to celebrate his passion for art that contaminated him to the point of determining his professional and artistic choices. To this end, analyzes of examples of the filmmaker's work started at the time of the so-called New Hollywood, in the 1960s-1970s, and of great popular penetration, are developed. Spielberg is directly responsible not only for the continuity and revision of the classic Hollywood narrative, but also for the incorporation of elements and influences from other cinematographies, establishing the norms of what is known as contemporary industrial cinema. The relevance of his work, object of this study, is felt in the influence it exerts on later generations and helps in the reflection on the importance of cinematographic memory and, consequently, in the preservation of this memory.
