Resumo: The city of Nova Lima presents a geomorphology marked by complex terrains inserted on a set of hills of Quadrilátero Ferrífero. This characteristic combined with the structure of land ownership, slowed the advance of the expansion of Belo Horizonte metropolis space. However, after constant changes on the use land laws of Belo Horizonte and Nova Lima, and the support of municipal government, the urban occupation has expanded within the neighborhoods Vila da Serra, Vale do Sereno, Jardinaves, Jardim das Mangabeiras, Jardim das Torres and Piemonte, in the city of Nova Lima, in a pattern of intense vertical and urban densification. Considering the possible climate impacts from the verticalization, there was a concern about the occupation pattern assumed in these neighborhoods. The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between urban and geoecological components interacting with the atmosphere in the northern part of Nova Lima. The thermal, moisture and anemometer answers to geoecological and urban occupation characteristics was diagnose, seeking to link the responses obtained on these scales the organization to scale at higher levels (mesoscale and local scale). Temperature samples were collected, relative humidity, direction and speed of winds in two field experiments. The rhythmic analysis was use for the evaluation of active weather systems in the sample period. The results confirmed the influence of urbanization process of the laminar layer of the local atmosphere. The current land use and occupation potentiated atmospheric warming in certain periods of the day, affecting the direction and speed of winds and decreasing humidity. The topography and local morphology assume primary role in the dynamics of climatic elements. It was prepared a map of climatopes units defined in the study area as a method of synthesis of local climate. Some schematic profiles were design to illustrate climatic processes involved in the discretization of each unit and the scalar relationships identified in the area.
