Resumo: INTRODUCTION: Myasthenia gravis, despite being rare in humans beings, represents the most common autoimmune disease of neuromuscular junction which causes muscle weakness and fatigue. In Brazil, there are few studies on the characterization of the disease, as well as, poor data related to quality of life. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the perception of quality of life in patients with myasthenia gravis and its determinants related by translation, cultural adaptation and validation of MGQOL15. METHODS: It was conducted a cross-sectional study of 69 patients diagnosed with myasthenia gravis. They underwent neurological assessment using specific protocols (MG Composite, MGFA), questionnaires on quality of life (SF-36, MGQOL15) and, anxiety and depression (HAD). RESULTS: Among the 69 patients, 55 (91%) were female. There was no difference between groups thymectomized (42) and not thymectomized (27). There was also no significant difference between MGQOL15 with variables: gender, age, disease duration, MGFA, thymectomy and myasthenic crises. There was statistically significant difference between MGQOL15 with variables: clinical analyses (MG Composite, p<0.01), the drug prednisone dosage (p=0.02) and HAD (p<0.01). Regarding the validation process MGQOL15, the internal consistency by Cronbach's alpha coefficient was statistically significant for all items (>0.70). For constructor validity, it was observed a significant correlation of MGQOL15 with the SF-36 and its domains (p<0.05) except for the pain domain (p=0.32). CONCLUSION: The profile of patients is similar to that described in other services, presenting no differences between the groups analyzed, thymectomized and non-thymectomized. The determinants of quality of life in myasthenia gravis were administered dosage of the medication prednisone, clinical evaluation "MG Composite" and, anxiety and depression scale (HAD). The MGQOL15 proved to be a reliable instrument for the practical test and Brazilian scientific.
