Resumo: We assign senses and meanings in each enunciation, to each sign, because we are dialogical beings and this also applies to sound discourse. We investigate and analyze, in this work, how the process of construction of the senses attributed to the sound materials and contiguous elements present in the Reign of the Rosary of Itapecerica, a city in the state of Minas Gerais (MG) develops. We collected historical data, documents and bibliographies that help us to understand how the devotion to Our Lady of the Rosary was born in the European catholic world of the XV century, played an important role in the Christianization of Africa and arrived in Brazil. Thus, we analyze how the living and constant process of cultural reelaborations of the reign has occurred, which, dialogically, has been mediating the relations of the African heritages present in the songs, rhythms and religiosity of the reigns of the tender Mariner and other participant groups. To get to the preparation of this work, we also went to the field in the 2019 edition, when the party celebrated its 199th anniversary, besides interviewing the captains and recording audiovisuals of the parades, staging and rituals proper to tradition.
