Resumo: | This research investigated technological mediation modes in experiments with wearable interfaces (REILLY, 2017; MARINI, 2017). The wearables in this case are conceptualized as objects or prototypes built in Spaces of Doing that take place at events or places like Fab Labs,Makerspaces (VIEIRA, 2019; EYCHENNE; NEVES, 2013; GERSHENFELD, 2005) or Hackerspaces (MARTINS, 2017). Such environments of interaction show relevant dimensions between the technique (SIMONDON, 2013) and the concept of Do It Yourself (DIY) / Do It Yourself (CABEZA; MOURA, 2015; NEVES, 2014). The empirical corpus was consolidated from informal interviews, online mapping, face-to-face actions guided by ethnography and the realization of experiments based on the method of Participant Observation (MALINOWSKI,1984; MARIETTO, 2018). Low tech and high tech prototyping experiments were the basis for the construction of wearables and the analysis of work. Analysis is based on two different case studies. The first one took place at Espaço Divaholic (SP) in April 2019 with the prototyping of IoT (Internet of Things) wearables on open hardware platforms such as Arduino, Lilypad Arduino and NodeMCU. The second experiment articulated the knowledge of sewing and electronics in wearable pieces, during the 2nd edition of the Favela Hacklab (BH) project promoted by Gambiologia, between November and December 2019. The theoretical methodological notion of mediation is anchored in the field of Science and Technology Studies (STS), especially based on the Latourian poll on the modes of existence of the technique (LATOUR, 2019). The notion of interface (BRUNO, 2001) is linked to mediation and the notion of prototyping (BROWN, 2017). The empirical choice for wearables is due to the material and algorithmic dimension of these objects that resignify the human-machine experience (MANN, 1998; TURING, 2019), including in contemporary communicational spheres. The results of this research point to prototyping as a mode of technological mediation that unfolds in others, mainly in connection with the workaround [PRO.GAM], digital fabrication [PRO.FAB] and with creative coding [PRO.COD]. |
