Resumo: The purpose of this research is to understand the perception of teachers who work in socio-education regarding the importance of reading for adolescents who comply with socio-educational measures. Furthermore, based on what is understood of the Socio-educational Center as a space destined to welcome teenagers who have committed infractions, we also sought to understand whether teachers who work in socio-education perceive reading as a pedagogical resource and an aid in the quest to promote conditions for teenagers to return to society with a new perspective. Thus, given this understanding, the research carried out with teachers who worked at Centro Socioeducativo São Jerônimo, in Belo Horizonte, sought to understand whether reading is important and whether it contributed to favoring or improving interpersonal relationships among adolescents who comply with socio-educational measures and whose freedom is restricted. And, based on this inquiry, the general and specific objectives were developed that proposed to understand, according to the teachers' perception, the possible changes that may have occurred in behavior or verbal and gestural expressions among the inmate teens from the teaching of literature and reading practice. The methodology used to obtain information was a semi-structured interview through the application of a questionnaire, and, thus, it was possible to understand the teachers' understanding regarding the practice of reading and their probable contributions to the resocialization of adolescents. Furthermore, considering the particularity and specificity of socio-education, the data obtained showed the teachers' understanding of stimulating imagination through reading and, thus, improving individual perception and interpersonal relationships, helping and favoring learning in an environment of deprivation of liberty.
