Resumo: Introduction: Several studies have shown an association between depression and anxiety in the postpartum pregnancy period and negative outcomes such as low birth weight, prematurity, and behavioral and emotional changes in children. Prenatal care (APN) aims to contribute to reducing maternal and child morbidity and mortality. Quality prenatal care should include addressing these diagnoses. Objective: To verify if there is an association between quality of APN in SUS-BH and the realization of diagnoses related to anxiety and depression disorders in the pregnancy period. Methods: Cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. The first stage consisted of assessing the quality of the APN in the SUS-BH Network using data obtained from the PMAQ-AB 3rd Cycle. The second, analysis of data from the electronic record of the Municipal Health Department of Belo Horizonte concerning pregnant women monitored, diagnoses related to anxiety and depression disorders and referrals to mental health services, from January 2017 to December 2018. Results: As for prenatal care, it was observed that 6.47% of the participating family health team were classified in the excellent category, 51.92% in the particularly good category, 48.08% good and 3.60% in the regular category. None of the teams evaluated were classified in the bad category. Only 4.93% of pregnant women had records regarding diagnoses related to anxiety and depression disorders in the APN, which is below studies in Brazil and in several countries that point to a higher prevalence of these disorders in the pregnancy cycle. No correlation was found between the quality of prenatal care offered by the family health team, measured through the PMAQ, and the record of diagnoses related to the mental health of pregnant women. Conclusion: Although the quality of prenatal care in Belo Horizonte is generally good, there is still little record regarding aspects related to mental health during pregnancy.
