Resumo: | The genus Cycloramphus belongs to the Cycloramphidae family and has 30 described species, endemic to the Atlantic Forest. Data regarding the natural history of this clade is scarce, and the tadpole of just 12 species has been described, the call of 13 is known and the karyotype of 12 species has been studied. For many years, information about the call and reproductive mode of C. bandeirensis was unknown, with this gap being filled only recently. However, basic data about its morphometrical and morphological characters, besides internal oral larvae morphology are obscure, with those being an importante source of information. Neverthless, the karyotype has also never been described, and the acquisition of this data is essential to a better comprehension of the evolutionary karyotypical history of the group. With this being said, the main goal of this work was to provide a morphometric, morphological and chromatic characterization of juveniles and adults of Cycloramphus bandeirensis, as well as to describe its internal oral tadpole morphology and karyotype. After the recharacterization of the holotype and morphometric and morphological analysis of adults, the characters from the original description were updated and new ones were provided, proposing a new diagnosis for C. bandeirensis. The variation between juveniles and adults, as well as among males and females was also discussed. A new interactive identification key was created, with new characters and for all 30 species of the genus. Concerning the cytogenetic data, females and males presented 2n = 26 chromosomes, with centromeric C- banding staining and terminal signals of (GA)15 and (TTAGGG)n microsatellites. The new data herein obtained allows a better species-specific delimitation and a better comparison among the species of the genus, avoiding future taxonomic problems, besides contributing to the evolutionary understanding of the changes on the karyotype of the group. |
