Resumo: | This thesis has its goal in the understanding of the social phenomenon of seropositivity amongst masculine homosexuals who live with HIV. Qualitative research was based upon semi-structured interviews held with five men undergoing HIV treatment who are linked to health facilities within the city of Belo Horizonte. We have observed their trajectories with HIV through the lenses of the moral career concept, by Erving Goffman. The subjects continuum was divided into three stages: HIV testing, adhering to medical care, and getting antiretroviral therapy. Through an analysis of their life histories, we connected them with their histories with HIV. We have come to the conclusion that seropositivity is originated in the relationship these men establish with care policies which, in their turn, lead to shaping a new reality regarding the infection. This process produced a discipline-guided life ethics. |
