The thesis analyzes the socioeconomic profile of the leading members of the Vila do Carmo / Mariana chambers, focusing on the good elected men to assume the position of councilman between 1711 and 1808. In addition to focusing on economic and social aspects, light was shed on relational networks motivated by parental, economic and friendship aspects in which they were involved. Considering the chamber as a transit space for local elites, it analyzed the role of the institution in social ascension projects, taking into account the search for symbolic gains and as a stage for the establishment and strengthening of relational networks. It is understood that these networks were fundamental both for the nomination to the election and to Reinforce and to extend the authority of men with power of command and distinction within the mining society.
