Resumo: The facade cladding system is widely used in buildings throughout Brazil. The system composed of substrate/plaster/adhesive mortar/coating is closely linked, so a deformation imposed on a coating to result in the entire system. Increasing in use, that system has manifested many pathological problems, one of them is the ceramic detachment of the facade. The detachment can be caused by several external factors that cause the retraction and expansions of adhesive mortar that be requested for a lot of warming, cooling, hygroscopic expansion and hydraulic retraction.Even though the shear stress is in the system, there are few studies about it. In Brazil, there is no current standard that determines the shear bond strength of adhesives. This research aims to analyze the differents methods of test of work resistance to shear, to contribute with the creation of a practical method for the test, to study the influence of the adhesive mortar type ACII and ACIII in the shear resistance of the coating system composed by ceramic pieces. It was observed that the test for strength analysis of the shear bond stress is more practical than the standardized methods showed by other authors. The metallic piece produced in this work presented excellent performance for resistance tests of metallic ceramics laid with adhesive mortar. The methodology in this work proved to be efficient to analyze the adhesion resistance to the adhesive mortar. The adhesive mortar ACII and ACIII showed satisfactory results, close to 1.0MPa.
