Resumo: The histories of labor and immigration are confused at the threshold of the history of human life. In this sense, Italy stands out as a prominently migratory country, with Italians historically marked by the phenomenon of immigration. With regard to Brazil, Italian immigration became relevant as a mass phenomenon between the years 1887 and 1902, which constituted a factor of considerable demographic increase in this country. This dissertation consists of descriptive applied research, using the method of dialectical historical materialism, aiming to identify the influences of Italian immigration on the history of labor and Labor Law in Brazil. With the 2008 crisis, there was a slight revival of the flow of Italians to this country and, in this sense, the present dissertation focused on this new phase, based on the analysis of the results of the research “Crisis, work and new migratory flows (2008-2020)", carried out by the Trem – Trabalho em Movimento research group, at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), with support from the Research Development Foundation (Fapemig), in which the author was actively participated, and this dissertation is also a final product of that research. All this to seek to answer the following question: what is the relevance of Italian immigration to the history of work and Labor Law in Brazil? In this sense, it reflects on the category of work in Karl Marx's philosophy, discussing the dialectic of work in its universal, ontological, as the foundation of social being, and particular, historical aspects, as a producer of goods in the capitalist mode of production. With regard to research techniques, it notes that the results were presented in a quantitative and qualitative way, based on the collection of data from secondary and primary sources.
