Resumo: The theme of this research is the care of visually impaired students in the context of higher education in music. The research aimed to study the accessibility and inclusion policies developed by two public universities in Minas Gerais, which are the State University of Minas Gerais (UEMG) and the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) investigating the functioning and scope of these policies, specifically within the scope of the music schools of these institutions, as well as their impact on the academic life of visually impaired music undergraduates. Given the scarcity of studies, research and publications (CHAVES; WOLLFFENBÜTTEL, 2020; SOARES; TRINDADE, 2021); and the gap in the curricula of undergraduate degrees and in the training of music teachers (LOUREIRO, 2006; PENNA, 2007; PLETSCH, 2009; LOURO, 2015; SOUZA e SAMPAIO, 2019) with regard to the theme in question, there is a need to build knowledge in this area, with a view to improving the care of people with disabilities, especially music students with visual impairment. Based on a literature review on the theme in the field of public policies and Music Education Musical (REILY, 2008; DOMINGUES, 2009; LOURO, 2015; TUDISSAKI, 2019; SOUZA, 2020, KEENAN JÚNIOR, 2017; BONILHA, 2010), the research was developed in a qualitative methodological approach, using, as data collection, the following instruments: Documentary analysis related to the accessibility policies developed at UEMG and UFMG, as well as in their academic units responsible for higher education in music; and Semi-structured interview with visually impaired undergraduate music students, enrolled or graduated from the aforementioned institutions. The analysis of the data showed the existence of inclusion policies in the two universities, but not enough to meet the demand of students with visual impairment, in addition to the need to improve the training of teachers and professionals involved in the formation of this community.
