The purpose of this thesis is to discuss notions and practices of authorship under an anthropological perspective. The thesis explores issues such as academic plagiarism, creative plagiarism, and free-use licenses and patents, starting from various ethnographic, historical and bibliographic contexts and materials. In each and in all- cases, the thesis discusses which criteria qualifies a person as an "author", and whether the authoring experience is a process of creation and creativity. The authorship, object of this thesis, aims to deal with people in relation to: other people, categories, laws, and objects. We (I) see that, filtered by authorship and in the name of intellectual property, many concepts have been used and addressed in different ways, offering us very singular positions on how to think the "individual" interacting in a "society".
