Resumo: Senda Aimára (2011), for the flute and guitar, was written by Argentinian composer, resident of Brazil, Rufo Herrera. An homage to indigenous people known as Aimára, the piece was inspired by Herrera’s experience with aimáras in early 60s, in Salta e Jujuy’s region, northwest of Argentina. The motivation for the research of this written work in three episodes, those 3 being, 1. Vidála, 2. Chaya and 3. Huayno came from my activities in Duo Mineiro, formed by flautist Alef Caetano and me. Ever since the first, more intuitive interpretations of this piece, more questions were raised about it as we played. The piece is analyzed by its performance and through the composer’s trajectory, life and work in music, together with Senda Aimára ‘s singular cultural and artistic background. This research provided the informations used to develop a performance, guided by reflexions and positions of, but not limited to, James Grier (1996) and Fernando Araújo (2017), by the work of musical editing , and by the concept of culturally informed performance developed by Flávio Barbeitas and Marcos Foschiera (2020). The results aim to guide the performer by the piece’s character and cultural context, and by also setting grounds to a fundamented performance of Senda Aimára.
