Resumo: This work is a study carried out to small groups through remote meetings due to video conferencing during the new coronavirus pandemic period, between April 2020 and September 2022. In these meetings, previously selected and assisted films were analyzed and debated by participants addressing aspects of film language. The debates were conducted by the researcher himself and, in some events, were attended by guest commentators. Starting from the assumption that cinema is an art with an important social function, meetings have the purpose of arousing in the participants of the debates the pleasure of film art, as well as contributing to the improvement of critical thinking. The purpose of this research is to reflect on this form of approach, through remote intervention, seeking to observe approximations, advantages and disadvantages in relation to face-to-face meetings. For the analysis and interpretation of the data obtained in the research, the content analysis methodology was used, from the material obtained from the recordings of events, questionnaires applied to participants and interviews in focal group format. We realized that video conferencing debates were a successful experience, proving to be a great alternative of cultural activity during the pandemic period, with good possibilities to remain in this format or interspersed with face-to-face meetings.
