Resumo: How does the relationship between the filmmaker and the characters develop in some recent Brazilian documentaries in which the set is the house and its surroundings? To grasp the variations of those connections, we fall back on the idea of hospitality defined by the copresence of the guest and its host in a space familiar to the latter and strange to the former. The thesis makes heuristical use of the notion of hospitality to understand the elements presented in the filmic scene shared by filmmakers (as guests/visitors) and characters (taken as hosts). The methodology favored the description of scenes from different films, aiming to highlight the elements presented in the duration of the take and in the edited scene. This description took into consideration the arrange of the mise-en-scène, self-mise-en-scène developed by the characters and also the organization of the montage. To take in account the variance of the filmic scene of hospitality, we create five images: Fostering, Friendship, Threshold, Recoil and Trap.
