Resumo: The speeches of the Attic orators are a valuable source of information on Ancient Greek culture, not only as it pertains the Athenian legal system, but also, by dealing with various forms of interpersonal disputes, with numerous other aspects of life in Athens during the classical period. They had until recently, however, received relatively little attention. As a result, there are very few available Portuguese translations of speeches produced by the logographer Isaeus. Despite not enjoying wide renown, this rhetor is a remarkably interesting source on account of his specialized field of work. Almost every one of Isaeus speeches we have deal with inheritance disputes, and, therefore, they touch upon a series of complex relations, both internal and external to a familial group, particularly as it relates to the ownership of an estate and religious obligations to the deceased. It is in the interest of facilitating the access of the lusophone public to this historical source that this dissertation presents Portuguese translations (with accompanying notes and brief critical discussions) of two of Isaeus speeches: On the Estate of Dicaeogenes and On the Estate of Apollodorus.
