Resumo: | This thesis assumes that Antonio Tabucchi establishes a literary dialogue with the Italian writer Luigi Pirandello and the Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, making a reinterpretation of certain themes and concepts present in the work of both writers by bringing them into a new context. Its general objectives are: to delineate Antonio Tabucchis poetics of writing, highlighting the literary dialogue between Antonio Tabucchi, Fernando Pessoa, and Luigi Pirandello, considering modernity and postmodernity; to reflect on the fragmentation and multiplicity of the individual, permeating the concepts of identity and otherness, as well as the proliferation of masks in the works of the three writers at issue; to focus on the game between real and fictional in Antonio Tabucchi, Luigi Pirandello, and Fernando Pessoa; to demonstrate how memory, absence, nostalgia, and loneliness cross the work of these three writers. For developing the chapters, I have selected some texts of the authors focused in this thesis: Il gioco del rovescio (1981), Il filo dellorizzonte (1986), Il signor Pirandello è desiderato al telefono (1988), Requiem (1991), Cinema (1985), Stanze (1985), and Autobiografie Altrui (2003), by Antonio Tabucchi; Prima notte (1900), Il Pipistrello (1920), Ciascuno a suo modo (1924), Uno, nessuno e centomila (1925), and Questasera si recita a soggetto (1929), by Luigi Pirandello; besides the static drama O marinheiro (1913), the Livro do desassossego (1913-1935), and the Poesia Completa de Álvaro de Campos (1914-1935), by Fernando Pessoa. In the first chapter, I highlight some aspects that can be found in Pessoa and Pirandellos poetics with which AntonioTabucchi is in constant dialogue, considering modernity and postmodernity. In the second chapter, I approach the different ways in which multiplicity is present in the works of the three writers focused in this thesis, which leads to the reflection on important aspects, such as identity and otherness, the I and the other. In the third chapter, I analyze the game between real and fictional present in the works of AntonioTabucchi, Fernando Pessoa, and Luigi Pirandello. Finally, in the forth chapter, I demonstrate how important aspects that orient much of Antonio Tabucchis work, such as memory, absence, nostalgia, and loneliness cross, in the same way, the writings of Luigi Pirandello and Fernando Pessoa. |
