Resumo: This study aimed to understand how communication intervenes in the work in team of professionals who act in Family Heath Program. The research was carried out in the Heath Center of Pampulha District in Belo Horizonte City, from December 2004 to July 2005. The data have been colleted by means of observation and half-structualized interviews.Interation moments, scenes and facts occurs in the reception and halls were observed among them. Three nurses, one physician, two nursing practitioners and one heath community agent were interviewed. The analysis of data allowed the identification of the following subjects: "Conception of Communication"; "Process of Work and Communication" and "Implications of the Communicative Process in the Work in Team".The majority of the professionals consider the importance of communication for their actions, conceiving it as the citizens expression of freedom and a way to exchange information among people. The implementation of the domestic visits and the presence of the heath community agent in the Family Heath Program demand outdoor work, where the focus is the family, the community. This context leads to a bigger approach of the professional with the patient and, consequently, the expectations and requirements of the population increase; this rises a great noise and flow of people in work-place; there is a duplicity of information with the same content, witch becomes the communication more complex. The work process is stressing and overloaded, thus the interaction with the other occurs mainly of verbal form. Moreover, little intermeshing is noticed among the members of the teams that do not share the same net of meanings, that impair the work to multidiscipline. This research allowed a conscious reflection to the own collaborators asthey develop their work and this survey becomes subsidy for the elaboration of professional qualification for the interaction in team and nonverbal perception.
