Resumo: Objectives: to determine intercurrents complications during pregnancy and perinatal result for the patients with hemoglobinopathy SS and SC are supervised by the Department of High Risk Pregnancy of the Federal University of Minas Gerais from 1992 to 2002. Methods and patients:retrospective research on 40 patients (30 SS and 10 SC) and 46 pregnancies (34 SS and 12 SC) was studied from the beginning of prenatal until postpartum. All detailed were received by the retrospective review. A value of the P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant, odds-ratio and test t Student were included in this analysis. Results: the high rate of the pregnancies were complicated by intercurrents prenatals associated with basic illness (80,4%) and they yet were complicated by intercurrents obstetrics disorders (54,3%). The postpartum was complicated in 30,4% at times and the postpartum infection was the main complication. There was a high rate of premature delivery and incidence of low-birthweigth for gestacional age; however, only one case of abortion and one stillbirth resulted in perinatal complication. There wasnt any neonatal mortality. Conclusion: although during pregnancy the infected hemoglobinopathy SS and SC demonstrates high risk for a intercurrent disorder, this can to hope the satisfactory result for both: to the mother and to the fetus.
