Resumo: Seeking to analyze trajectories, this research aims to investigate the knowledge and actions of federal sports and leisure managers who worked in the Ministry of Sport (2003-2018), considering their leisure experiences, training and professional performance, as well as possible limits and contributions for the management of public policies. Therefore, the objective of the research was to analyze the trajectories of the managers who headed the national secretariats of the Ministry of Sport (SNDEL and SNELIS) responsible for participatory sport, considering their knowledge, the unfolding of these public policies, as well as the challenges related to leisure and sport as rights in the country's political agenda. For field research, I combined bibliographic, documentary and field research procedures. In the documentary research, I consulted and analyzed the official and technical documents of the extinct Ministry of Sport. In addition, I carried out a previous survey of the data and found that, over time (15 years), the Ministry of Sport had 10 national secretaries. In the field research, I used the semi-structured interview technique, conducting three interviews remotely (Google Meet) and six in person. I used content analysis to capture the information captured in the field and documentary research procedures. Data analysis allowed me to identify what ex-managers experienced in their trajectory and how these experiences reflected on their way of acting, in addition, I identified differences and similarities in the group of ex-managers. Differences, since the training process of each of them took place in different times, spaces, social and professional training contexts. Similarities, because the trajectory, the experiences, the choices and the political involvement led us to act as managers of the social policies of the extinct Ministry of Sport. Thus, I identified three types of trajectories: a) those whose experiences were initially made possible by primarily partisan and trusting relationships; b) those whose experiences at the head of management were made possible by political and technical invitation; and c) those experienced by subjects who have a basic academic background (in the scope of sport and leisure), involved with political issues, denoting a primarily technical trajectory. To this end, when experiencing such construction, the field of action stood out as a training space for the former manager, thus evidencing the importance of practical experiences in the training of professionals. With regard to the knowledge and knowledge necessary to act in the management of public policies for sport and leisure, a range of related topics emerged. Among them, the need for managers to know the theories linked to politics and public policies, as well as issues linked to the management of public services. Among the knowledge represented by the domain of knowledge on a certain topic, sport and leisure were also highlighted, which represents something fundamental, since promoting them from a clear conception can seek to answer, including the social questions linked to them. Regarding the challenges that are posed in the management of sports and leisure policies today, there was unanimity in the understanding of the former managers. According to them, a change in the political framework is necessary, which requires alternation in the central power (presidency) of Brazil, followed by the reconstruction of what was deposed, from the valorization of systematized knowledge that must be deepened.
