Resumo: | Metal forming processes provide various products for the industrial sector. The automotive industry uses drawn bars for the production of rods for shock absorbers and the dimensional accuracy is a key factor in the performance of these components. The drawing step in the manufacturing process of these rods results in a residual stress profile that can cause distortion in the bars. The variation of the drawing process parameters can be crucial to the level of residual stresses and distortions of the final component. In this work, numerical simulation models have been built to evaluate the profile of residual stresses and distortion of drawn bars, including the variation of some process parameters such as the geometric parameters of the bar, the working angle of the die, the coefficient of friction between the material and the tool and the initial alignment between the die and the bar. It has been concluded that the most critical parameter for the occurrence of distortions in the bars was the angular misalignment of the die, resulting in more than 4% of distortion. The other investigated parameters led to low distortions. |
