Resumo: This work aims to present and develop the methodological procedures that made possible the elaboration of a bilingual illustrated bimodal glossary in Portuguese language and Brazilian sign language grounded in a corpus of terms of the architecture design area. The selected terms to appear in the glossary were either gathered or created from three research projects: Construction of a Technical Glossary for the Adequation of the Instrumental Language in Libras; Elaboration of a Manual for Architectonical Drawing Teaching for Deaf People and Study of Universal Design in the Perspective of Sustainability. These projects used the methodology of participant research in which the researcher is also the researched object and the methodology of the action research, which has a formative and emancipatory scope. One of the most important goals of this project was to awaken the scientific vocation in deaf students encouraging them toward the construction of knowledge and identity in the professional context. The presented terms went through a procedure of analysis, selection and validation in line with the theoretical framework of this project. The aim is that the final product of this research would be a glossary of technical terms that could support the teaching of the Architectonic Drawing subject to the deaf student in technical or superior courses in the area of the civil engineering. It is important to report that the 2010 census held in Brazil by IBGE indicates that out of the total Brazilian population of 190.755.799 people, 23% has some type of disability. As far as the deaf person is concerned it is known that in Brazil there is approximately 9.717.318 individuals that stated to have hearing disabilities (5% of the population). More than 2.1 million people reported severe hearing loss. From this population, 344.200 are completely deaf and 1.7 million people have great hearing difficulties. The theoretical framework used in this work is composed of authors from different fields, which are, complementary. Cabré (1995) argues that terminology is an interdisciplinary autonomous research field that established its own specificity by selecting elements from other subjects related to it and building its own scientific field. Therefore, this project studies and create terms from the architectonical drawing field by also putting together elements of other scientific fields such as applied linguistics, lexicography, lexicology, as well as the professional and technological education area with a special focus on the architectonical drawing teaching.
