Resumo: This research aimed to verify the process of musical training and professional performance of two recorder teachers. From a qualitative approach, the methodology adopted was the multiple case study, in order to identify what are the perspectives of participants in relation to their professional future. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed by content analysis. This procedure included the categorization and interpretation of data in dialogue with the theoretical framework that addresses the process of constitution of the teaching profession; choosing a professional training in music; as well as expectations to enter in the job market, among others. The results revealed that the main professional performance space occupied by participants was the space of socio-cultural projects; and the least referenced space was the elementary school, showing: 1. The difficulty of schools, public and private, to include music lessons in their curricula; 2. The absence of specific public contests for music teachers; 3. The lack of attractiveness to act in this context, or by structural issues, or by incompatibility of the professional profile. Through the results, is expected to raise discussions that consider the professional performance of the recorder teacher.
