The present research is in the interdisciplinary field of literary studies and cultural studies; It is an investigation of the relationship between literature and territory, and the importance of voice / orality as a vehicle for transmitting knowledge and literary expression. It proposes to draw the first lines of a literary cartography around the mythical-literary figure of Makunaima. The figure of Makunaima is present in the indigenous imaginary circum-Roraima - a notion at the same time geographic and political, whose point of concentration is the Monte Roraima (sacred place, tourist and of scientific interest) and the ethnic identities that developed there. Makunaima is the generator of several historical and contemporary readings in the field of the arts and human studies. In studies of the psyche and the collective unconscious he represents the archetypal trickster; Represents the cultural hero, fire donor, in the studies of Amerindian mythologies; Is also a hero with no character and literary canon. In its wanderings around the world it was leaving marks, giving shape to the known geography, extending the borders of its influence. Now, the stories about the saga of Makunaima and his brothers are still transmitted orally by the indigenous peoples of the region, who recognize in the geography of the territory marks left by these heroes. They are rivers, waterfalls, trails and rocks until now identified by the indigenous populations, and that recount the hero's trajectory, constituting as sacred places of its mythical route. I propose the discussion of the contemporaneity of the mythical figure of Makunaima - Latin American cultural hero - as the generator of historical and contemporary readings of Amerindian identity; And research on the trajectory of the myth, its insertion in the traditional indigenous territory, its transit through the sciences and the arts and its appropriation in current re-readings. Makunaima crosses borders, speaks various languages, shuffles fixed cultural identities and acts as a mythical prism, dispersing readings of varied tones.
