Resumo: | The aim of this research was to evaluate morphometric characteristics and functional classification indexes, in addition to checking the occurrence and distribution of coat colors in horses of both genders of Campolina horse breed. The database used were from the studbook released by the “Associação Brasileira dos Criadores do Cavalo Campolina” with recorded about 107,630 animals between the years of 1951 and 2016 including stallions, mares and gelded ones.In the assessments regarding coat colorsCampolina horse population were used information of 44,437 animals presenting coat colors defined. Biometric evaluations it was used 47,560 information with linear measurements, and 12 indexes functional zootechnical were estimated on the basis of measurements. As for the functional assessment of the animals were used notes of scores received at the definitive registration act with a total of 5,196 data. Exploratory analyzes of the information provided have been performed. To verify the effect of animal category as linear measurements, indexes and scores of driving analysis of variance were made followed by test of mean comparisons (p<0.05). The chi-squared test was performed to verify coat colors dispersal, and observe differences between males and females in addition to the association of these with the progressof scores. The procedures were performed by the software Statistical Analysis System. Stallions, gelded ones and mares were different in the heights at withers, the back and the croup. The horses showed to be eumetric, longiliness, far from the groundand being the females most similar to the traction type. Campolina horse breed males have presented a better performance in progress at the time of definitive registration. The population of Campolina horses remains prevalent in the dun phenotype. Stallions of the breed are within the pattern desired by the association for large animals and gait, a fact that may be related to the rigor of selection. However, gelged ones and mares, are not within the ideal. For Campolina horse breed, correlation of low magnitude between measures of height and gait scores; demonstrating, absence of association of height with the gait quality assessed to definitive record. |
