Resumo: | This research examined social relations in the daily live of high school students their possible impacts on the learning experience of students. It looks at the interaction between social patterns and learning, and seeks to identify and analyze school spaces and school times used by young students in their social relations. The research draws on theories of social relations from various scholars in the fields of social science, especially in Sociology and Education. The research is qualitative and ethnographic, using observations, questionnaires, open interviews and focus group sessions. The subjects were sophomore high school students in a public school, in a suburb of the city of Juiz de Fora, in the state of Minas Gerais. The researchers were able to gather detailed information on the daily life and school routines of the students, and through this to understand the process of friendship building, group characteristics, and the role of social groups in the school. From an assessment of students' attitudes, beliefs, and strategies, it was possible to identify the meaning that school had to the students, in relation to their friendships and educational pursuits. |
