It looks at the interaction between social patterns and learning, and seeks to identify and analyze school spaces and school times used by young students in their social relations. The subjects were sophomore high school students in a public school, in a suburb of the city of Juiz de Fora, in the state of Minas Gerais. From an assessment of students' attitudes, beliefs, and strategies, it was possible to identify the meaning that school had to the students, in relation to their friendships and educational pursuits.
