Resumo: The rate of total sperm retrieval after cryopreservation is very variable due to difficulty in predicting injury caused by the freezing and thawing process. The aim of the study was to evaluate the predictive value of seminal levels of Inhibin B and Anti Mullerian hormone with regards to survival and spermatic motility after cryopreservation. The seminal samples were analyzed for morphology using Kruger criteria, concentration (Neubauer counting chamber), motility (optical microscopy) and vitality. Each sample was divided into two aliquots of which one was analyzed immediately and the second underwent cryopreservation (Tyb-G) and thawing. In both aliquots seminal serum was analyzed by Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay (ELISA) for hormone levels, and sperm vitality and motility were assessed using the techniques listed above. The cryopreservation survivalrate and motility maintenance rate were compared with seminal fluid levels of Inhibin B and AMH in three groups: Donor, Normal and Abnormal. Analysis was double blinded. No correlation was found between seminal serum levels of Inhibin B and AMH and CSR or MPR. Therefore, these hormones do not appear to have value in predicting sperm retrieval after cryopreservation.
