Resumo: This paper aims to describe the main factors associated with social security of the people that circulate in downtown Belo Horizonte. Soon in the first stage, part of a theoretical discussion, the study presents as social representation, perceptions of danger, fear and a talk of crime, it makes people feel safe. In this chapter, the study presents an alternative understanding of what some authors term "security paradox."In., Both interviews conducted, are the main data of the study. For a better understanding, how information was separated into four categories: A) Satisfaction with Security, B) Perception of Threat, C) Perception of a safe location, and D) Main problems and solutions presented to Safety. Finally, in the final chapter some of the main results of the work are analyzed. At this stage, the study shows how social representations describe a non-centered insecurity, as the sense of lack of protection is accompanied by an intense distrust of the way they act as security institutions among the agent agents inserted in society. This widespread sense of mistrust would explain the strong desire to expand security institutions, adopting more incisive mechanisms in punishment as a way of reestablishing order, fighting crime and reducing feelings of fear and danger.
