Resumo: | Quality of life (QOL) encompasses a complex and multidimensional concept and can be achieved through personal, professional and social fulfillment; And many factors affect it, among them the environment, access to culture, leisure and education, the individual's perception of society and work. Nursing professionals, especially those working in the pediatric area, experience stressful situations at work that cause emotional, physical and social exhaustion and generate feelings of dissatisfaction. Such attrition can interfere with the QoL and the emotional balance of individuals, who often work tense, anxious, depressed, and unmotivated. In pediatrics, the professional needs specialized technical capacity and emotional stability in order to offer a safe care that involves the individuality of each child and family. The care provided by the nursing team is a unique experience permeated by conflicts and different feelings such as life and death, frustration and gratification, gains and losses; However, little is known about the quality of life of these professionals and the factors that significantly impact this. The objective of this research was to evaluate the quality of life of nursing professionals who work in pediatric units at the different levels of care complexity - Urgency, Intensive Care and Inpatient Unit - of school hospitals in Belo Horizonte. It was a cross-sectional study, the sample calculation took into consideration the total of 664 nursing professionals who work in three schools hospitals in Belo Horizonte, in which the whole population of nurses was considered, and nursing auxiliaries and technicians Stratified proportionally by institution, unit of work and shift. Data were collected through two questionnaires related to demographic, socioeconomic and labor characteristics and the WHOQOL-BREF. The results showed a significant difference between the medians of the domains of QoL when analyzed per unit of work. It was observed that there was a significant association of gender in the physical dimensions (p = 0.050) and environment (p = 0.021) of QoL; Of marital status in the social relations domain (p = <0.001); Of family monthly income and schooling in the environment dimension (p = <0.001; p = 0.011); Of the work shift in the social relations dimension (p = 0.031); And the work institution with the physical (p = 0.001), psychological (p = 0.003) and social (p = 0.011) domains. It is concluded that the demographic and work-related variables can negatively influence the different domains of quality of life of the nursing professionals who work in these pediatric units. It should be emphasized that the quality of the care provided is directly related to the professional's QoL, so the need to get to know and intervene in these factors promoting the appreciation of the latter, impacting on their personal lives. |
