Resumo: | Breastfeeding is the most natural act of affection, bonding and protection for the newborn, providing adequate nutrition, and should be exclusive in the first six months of life and supplemented until two years of age. The Brazilian Unified Health System, over decades, has sought to establish strategies to promote breastfeeding and complementary feeding and since 2013 the Breastfeeding and Feeding Brazil Strategy has been implemented to improve breastfeeding adherence rates, through carrying out workshops on family health strategies and subsequent certification of these. The objective of this research was to evaluate the implementation of the Strategy Breastfeed and Feed Brazil (SBFB) and its association with breastfeeding indicators in the municipality of Montes Claros/MG, comparing the prevalence rates of exclusive breastfeeding in trained and untrained units in this municipality. A quantitative descriptive case study was carried out, through a survey of data available on Sisvan Web, in relation to exclusive breastfeeding of children aged 0 to 6 months and qualitative, through a structured interview, sent via Google Forms and answered by professionals of six family health units located in the municipality of Montes Claros, Minas Gerais. This study presented contradictory results, as the highest prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) was found in untrained teams from Montes Claros, when compared to teams that participated in an SBFB workshop in the same municipality. When comparing these data with those obtained in the interview carried out with the teams, it was observed that the untrained ESFs presented positive factors related to the promotion of breastfeeding, in addition to meeting most of the certification criteria. In the present research carried out considering the years 2018 to 2023, there was a higher prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding in untrained units in the municipality of Montes Claros, however, when associating EBF adherence rates with the interviews carried out in these health units, it is noted that the units that hosted the 2019 workshops had some negative points that harm the promotion of breastfeeding, such as: team turnover, lack of ongoing education on breastfeeding, in addition to lack of knowledge of the criteria that help in the certification of health units by SBFB. |
