It is a study that investigates the discourses constructed in journalistic material published during the media coverage of the women's football during the Olympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, between August 1 and 16 of that year. The work promotes a wide theoretical discussion about the relevance of the study of sport under sociological perspectives, relating it to gender issues in soccer, observing and exploring, in the time cut analyzed, from the literature review related to the object and the data obtained, the differences in coverage by media professionals in both countries and the reproduction of stereotypes by online and television media.
