This study aimed to know and determine the characteristics of the victims of physical aggression with involvement of the maxillofacial complex periciadas in Legas Medical Institute in São Luis / MA considering gender as a category of analysis. A cross-sectional observational study, the quantitative aspect, using secondary data extracted from medical and dental reports of forensic examination (Bodily Injury) during the years 2013 to 2014. The variables analyzed were: year, age , gender, race / ethnicity, marital status, employment status, place of residence, type of instrument used, type of injury, affected maxillofacial region, sequelae resulting from aggression. The data were summarized in an Excel spreadsheet (version 2010) and analyzed statistically analyzed using SPSS ® version 17.0 (IBM, New York, USA). The chi-square test was used in the comparative analysis between the observed frequencies in the analyzed period, with variable gender as a category of analysis. The results showed that there is a difference between the type of injury, affected region, instrument used in the attack and the type of sequel left between the female and male and concluded that the maxillofacial complex injuries that the most occurred in female subjects, brown, without a partner, employees and residents of the capital of Maranhão. The bucinadora region was the most affected in female and male in the zygomatic. The most common injuries in females were bruises and abrasions and men were more present the contused and pierce contused. The blunt instrument, as the cause of the injury was more related to the female gender, the biting and sharp pierce the male that was also the most affected by sequelae resulting from beatings with facial involvement. |
