This research analyzes the celebration of Nossa Senhora da Conceição as an Intangible and religious Cultural Heritage of the city of Bocaina/PI, with this festival producing identity and belonging. Its objective is to work on local history, religiosity and popular culture in teaching history from the perspective of the Heritage Education methodology, operationalizing concepts such as places of memory (Nora, 1993), heritage (Meneses, 2012), practice, representation and appropriation ( Chartier, 2002) and carnivalization (Bakhtin, 1999). The research was developed through the heritage education project “Memórias da Fé” applied to students in the 9th year of elementary school at Escola Municipal Urbano Leal in Bocaina-PI. Thus, through the problematization of the production and learning of History based on cultural heritage, the possibility is envisaged for basic education teachers to work on culture and popular Catholic religiosity in teaching History.
